The Environment Agency turned on the support pump as the natural discharge of water from the Seven Springs has significantly reduced.
After discussions with Exning New River Association the pump will be on a revised regime of one hour on, one hour off for the time being this is to help reduce the buildup of sediment that happens when the pump is off and the water flow slows.
Part of our ability to monitor what is happening to the river has come from the data logger that can be seen in the Duck Pond. This currently monitors water temperature and TDS (dissolved solids) and will help us monitor ‘pollution events’ that tend to happen during heavy rain.
