The Jockey Club, when they stripped out the National Hunt jumps at the end of the season, kindly donated to the Exning New River Association over 100 birch faggots.
The Association are particularly grateful as they are ideal for placing between the bank and coir rolls in the Duck Pond, providing a base for the aquatic planting.
Volunteers spent several mornings making hessian bags and filling them with aquatic plants. These bags have been placed in the Duck Pond on the birch faggots and into the gravel berms. The 500 plants recently purchased included irises, purple loosestrife, grasses and reeds.
